Terms of service

These terms cover your use of Truespoken: the Mac app, its server, and this website. Truespoken is provided by Alan Albuquerque, an individual (“we”). Contact: [email protected].

The service

Truespoken turns what you say into text in the app you’re using. Its server transcribes your recording and can clean it up, restyle it or translate it to English. Using the server requires an account. Features may change as Truespoken improves.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older, or at least 13 with the agreement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms for you. Truespoken is not for anyone under 13.
  • You’re responsible for the Macs signed in to your account. You can sign any of them out from Settings → Account.
  • Don’t share your account or a Mac’s access token with other people.

Plans, limits and payment

  • Free: 2,000 words a week. Words come back every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
  • Pro: US$8 a month for 100,000 words a month. Words come back on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC. Every new account starts with 14 days of Pro, with no card.
  • Extra words: on Pro, 50,000 words for US$4. They never expire and are used only after the month’s words run out.
  • Any account can dictate up to 15,000 words a day, a limit that stops a stuck app.
  • Only the words of the final text you get count, once. Silence, failed dictations and restyling a dictation you already paid for are free.
  • Prices are in US dollars. Your bank or local taxes may add to them.
  • Pro renews every month until you cancel. When you cancel, Pro stays until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe: through Clerk Billing for Pro, and through Stripe Checkout for extra words. We never see your card number.
  • If we change a price or a limit, we tell paying users at least 30 days before it applies to them.

Refunds

  • Within 7 days of any Pro charge, you can ask for a full refund of that charge.
  • Within 7 days of buying extra words, you can ask for a full refund if you haven’t used any of them.
  • After 7 days, charges aren’t refunded, but you can cancel anytime to stop the next one.
  • To ask, email [email protected] from your account’s address. Nothing here limits the rights consumer law gives you.

Your words

What you dictate, and the text Truespoken returns, are yours. We process them only to give you the result, as the privacy policy describes. They aren’t stored, and we don’t use them to train models.

Using Truespoken fairly

  • Don’t use Truespoken for anything unlawful.
  • Don’t try to get around the word limits, overload the service, or reach the server except through the Truespoken app.
  • We may suspend an account that does these things. We’ll tell you why, unless the law doesn’t allow it.

Machine-made text

Transcription, cleanup and translation are done by machine learning models, and they make mistakes: a wrong word, a missed name, a changed meaning. Read the text before you rely on it, especially for medical, legal, financial or other important matters.

Availability

We work to keep Truespoken running, but we can’t promise it will always be available. When the server can’t be reached, your Mac transcribes on its own, with a warning saying so.

Liability

Truespoken is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law, including Brazil’s Consumer Defense Code, doesn’t allow to be limited.

Ending

  • You can delete your account anytime from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  • If we stop offering Truespoken, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before. We’ll refund the unused part of a paid period and any extra words you haven’t used.

Changes

When these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date. We tell you about important changes by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. If you’re a consumer, you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
